Things That Make My Life Easier

  • Read Aloud: A Text to Speech Voice Reader - Google Chrome Extension: OH MY GOSH, I wish I knew about this when I was at university because it would have made my life so much easier. But I recently stumbled across this amazing extension that reads aloud my work for me before I post. It is designed for accessibility but it's so helpful. I can pick up on mistakes that I wouldn't see normally because it's like someone else is reading the page. It's a bit slow at times but I wouldn't be without it any more.

  • My Kindle: Thanks Lukey for getting this for me for Christmas, I'm reading SOOO much faster than I have in the past. It's great. I have fallen in love with reading once again.

  • Grammarly (Just the free version): This is what got me through uni really - and all the other people who used to proof read my work - I eventually turned into that person hehe. Please don't use the AI feature to write, use it to check spelling and grammar.

  • Shark IZ102 Cordless Vacuum with Self Cleaning Brushroll: An older model of Shark vacuum's but honestly it picks up Benji's hair so easily, it's a breeze to vacuum. Plus, we always have corgi glitter everywhere LOL.

  • The obvious ones like my phone, laptop and ipad but I think those are too obvious - they're necessities in this day and age too.

  • Wahl De-Shedding Glove for dogs and cats: Benji is not one who likes being brushed by an dog hairbrush BUT he loves his de-shedding glove because he thinks he's getting all the pats. It's a win-win. Highly recommend if you have a pet that sheds a lot.

  • My KitchenAid: This thing is amazing and my wrists never hurt when baking any more (a big F U to carpal tunnel).

  • Sock/Underwear Drawer Dividers: Keeps things SOOO tidy.

  • Washing Machine Balls: Those little balls that pick up all the excess hair and fur when you wash your clothes because hair and fur gets everywhere LOL. Great little purchase! They are also known as lint balls.

  • An Air Purifier: I've forgotten what one we have but it's great, it keeps the air feeling a bit better than it was and helps with asthma and not waking up with a super dry mouth every day. I've got get a new filter for ours soon too.

  • Hot Air Styler Brush: If you struggle with humidity and curly hair, then this is a great alternative to blow-waving your own hair. I can never hold the brush and hair dryer at the same time, so this really helps! I haven't mastered it just yet but it does look a heck of a lot better than if I tried to blow wave my hair myself.

  • My Wheat Bag: Honestly, I go through these so fast. Any wheat bag will do, I usually just get them from the chemist or Kmart but if you struggle with cramping, then I highly recommend it (helps with IBS, period cramps) AND this also doubles as a bit of an anxiety reducer too.

  • Google Chromecast: So we don't have to go to each individual app on the TV. Everything is just there. There's so many options for streaming devices these days!

  • Light/Dark/Colour Laundry Hamper: So we don't have to sort through our lights and darks when going to put the washing on. So easy.

  • Portable Power Bank: This is great for when I go out at night and get worried about my phone dying OR if I want to play Pokémon Go for an extended period of time.

  • A standing shower caddy: This helps because it hurts to bend over to get stuff because of my back injury, makes it easy to clean, and just helps in general because none of our showers have shelves.

  • Silicon body scrubber: Okay, yes, I am still a bit on the fence about this one because it doesn't have as much soap lathering as I'd like but it's great if you are worried about germs and bacteria on a loofah.

  • Hair Scalp Massager: Helps with my scalp psoriasis and my dandruff in general.

  • Detangling Spray Mist (for hair): If I do wanna brush my hair, this really helps. Often, I condition my hair twice and it's still really hard to brush. I just use the Pantene one from Woolies.

  • Pimple Patches: I didn't realise these were a thing until I was an adult and they are great, honestly, stops me from picking at pimples and they really work well! You can pick them up from most supermarkets and chemists.

  • Canva Pro Subscription: I love Canva, I learned how to use it at my last corporate job and I've been using it for my Pinterest Pins, YT thumbnails and so much more. It's great. Plus I love how there are already designs you can customise yourself and it's so intuitive.

  • Spakfilla: Got a small hole in the wall you need to fix? This is great. There was a small hole in our hold rental in Essendon and I used some of this to cover it up and it was brand new. It's a great thing to have around the house in times of need.
