Hi friends! Isn't it crazy how it's the end of September already? I could swear yesterday it was only May - I feel like I've been dissociating for half the year, especially because I've had SOOOO much dental work done (anyway, it's almost over). Let's get into this month's Life Updates - please enjoy my September 2024 Life Updates.

What's been happening for Ashy, Benji and Luke? #lifeupdates
I feel like there hasn't been a lot this month so this post may be a little bit shorter than normal!
September 2024 Life Updates
So I thought my tooth was going to be fixed by the end of September BUT it turns out that I still need ONE more appointment for the crown to get put on. I feel so dumb because I genuinely thought that I only had that last appointment to go but the dentist meant the last part of the root canal - and that the crown is done 2 weeks after so hopefully on the 9th of October it will ALL be over - please haha. I feel dumb because I misinterpreted her saying "and then we'll finish" as completely finishing.
September 2024 Horoscopes were released - you can check those out "here."
We finally spent half a day at the zoo (Melbourne Zoo)! And it was pretty cool to go see some animals and when we went through this certain section, it looked like one of the lizards had escaped (and honestly, if a lizard escapes, all the power to them) so that was weird to walk past, but we were all good, no harm there! Also, a butterfly in the butterfly house landed on me and that's never happened before! But I was unable to get a photo.
The YouTube videos that I released were as follows: Things I find weird about living in Melbourne as a Kiwi (Part 2) // The Backrooms (A Sociological Take) // Melbourne Diaries Episode 5: A Productive Vlog! // The Sociology of Reality Glitches: Are We Living in the Matrix? // The Uncanny Valley Explained // The Dangers of Deepfakes - please check them out!!
The Brisbane Lions won the AFL Grand Final (I didn't pay any attention to it this year, sorry not sorry).
Luke and I will celebrate our official two-year anniversary on Monday the 30th of September and we will head into the CBD to get some dinner and drinks as two of Luke's mates are kindly puppy-sitting for us (thank you). I don't think I should really be saying this but I feel sad that our anniversary weekend got taken up by other commitments.
Mum has updated me on our cat Bella with the vet telling her she's miraculously doing a lot better (so fingers crossed we get to see her in November but I'll keep ya'll updated). I think she has good days and bad days.
Luke went to Iron Maiden and we booked tickets to see The Killers later this year. We also got tickets to see Jack Whitehall and his dad next year so hopefully that will be good.
I struggled with migraines, toothaches, and just general fatigue a lot this month so I've been really behind on a lot of my content. I always feel so guilty when I get behind but hopefully, I can get on top of things over the next month.
Two of my friends from NZ land stopped over in Melbourne for a quick visit on their way back from 10+ weeks of travel in Europe (they were exhausted AF) and they got to meet Benji Bear which was pretty cool!
Benji is now 12.7kg (so big and he's much harder to carry now LOL).
Luke and I did a "crafty stay-at-home date night" where we went to Spotlight and bought some random craft things such as clay, paint, pens, and paper and crafted at home! It was very chill.
We spent Father's Day at Luke's family's house and had both a roast and seafood paella for lunch that day + Luke made cookies!
I can't remember if it was this month or last month (I think this month) but we got a coffee machine - nothing fancy, just one that takes Nespresso pods. Luke has a points system at his work and through that system he can get cool things like appliances and tech stuff so we got that through there to see if we'd stop buying so many coffees out - we can even do a pupppachino for Benji Bear as it came with a milk frother thing.
I've drunk WAYYYY too many flavoured milks from Nippy's.
We have been watching the show "Shaun Micallaf's Eve of Destruction" and "The Amazing Race Australia: Celebrity Edition" - and I even suggested we make a drinking game of it for whenever host Beau takes off his kit because he did that A LOT in Top Gear but I think in The Amazing Race he has to be a walking advertisement for Katmandu so it doesn't really work well. Also, Taskmaster Australia is back already and it's great - we thought it was coming in October.
I have been craving a Jelly Tip ice cream on a stick literally all month omfg I wish NZ wasn't the only place that sold them! You can get the chocolate from Whittaker's online but it's not the same as the ice cream.
I decided to invest in a blow-out styling brush hot iron thing - and I like it. I'm not very good at using it yet but it is a lot easier than normal blow waving so I'm sure I'll get there. I purchased "this one" from Amazon Au for $39.99. Disclaimer - this is an affiliate link.
We finally booked our trip back to CHCH for a holiday in November and Luke's passport was about to expire so he had to quickly apply for a new one - fingers crossed the new one comes way before November LOL. At least we found out now! Update - it's been sent from the place where passports come from so hopefully it comes soon!
Luke and I tried the new Coke Oreos and Oreo Coke. Neither were as bad as I was expecting. The coke is like a very sweet vanilla flavour and the cookies taste like coke lollies. So random.
We spent the public holiday (Friday before the Grand Final) at the Woodlands Historic Park and took Benji and we saw lots of birds and kangaroos, which was pretty cool!
We also tidied up our balcony and I finally planted one of the inside plants I've been meaning to re-pot for a while and some of my herbs (except my parsley had died from winter) so we've tried to plant some basil and mint again so hopefully with the weather warming up, they will do well (otherwise, it's just gonna be parsley coming out our ears again).
We also tried a Schweppes sorbet-inspire soft drink (I think they partnered with Gelato Messina) which was flavoured Pineapple & Lime and it was actually DELISH. I think it's only a limited edition so go get one now if you live in Australia!! GO GO GO.
Pesto the Penguin went viral (and so did Moo Deng). What funny names for baby animals.
One night there was a fire truck, ambulance, and police cars down our street, there wasn't any noise but there was lots of flashing lights and I hope everyone is safe but omg, the flashing lights were annoying. We have no idea what happened.
A courier just p*ssed me off because HE WOULDN'T STOP ringing the bell until someone answered and was just so dismissive when I finally got down there. We have reverse living so it's gonna take me more than 10 seconds to answer the door dude calm down. AND like if you can't work out the gate, just f*cking throw the package over it. I don't care man. It really rubbed me the wrong way. I get the couriers aren't treated great but if you're gonna be an a$$hole, don't do it to me. I wish I said something to him.
I want to end this post on something a bit more positive so here's a link to the subreddit /r/happiness for you to enjoy some happy vibes - I have linked to the top of ALL time for your convenience.
Anyway, that's my updates for September 2024! See you again soon!!
Much love,
Ash xoxo
Hope this month is better from a health standpoint! It's hard to accomplish anything when you're in pain!
What a busy life! Yes time flies and I already started our Christmas shopping! Plus you gave me great idea to visit a zoo before it is too cold.
Don’t feel guilty! Sometimes bloggers get busy and sick. Have a wonderful next month!
Iron Maiden sounds awesome!
Sorry to hear about your migraines, they're the worst.
Pesto the Penguin is so cute!! Love reading these posts btw. Thanks for sharing!
