TW: There is going to be a bit of a rant at the start of this post, feel free to skip it if you don't want to read about my mental health struggles (it's in italics).
Hi friends! Happy Thursday!! Quick Rant: I don't really know where to start but I haven't really been feeling okay the past week or so, I have been struggling with intrusive thoughts a lot and just want them to sh*t up. I don't really know who I can reach out to because I am scared I won't be believed or taken seriously or that I'm imposing on someone. And sometimes you don't want advice, you just want someone to listen to you. However, I do see a psychologist regularly - he is just on holiday until later in the month, so not being able to talk about things until then is definitely frustrating. I think I am trying to do all the right things - mindfulness, getting outside, reaching out to friends to make plans, spending time with Benji and Luke. Sometimes I think my thoughts just get to me too much and ugh, just ugh. Anyway, with that being said, I thought I better make some 2025 goals so that is what this blog post is going to be all about - my 2025 goals! Things I can focus on to make 2025 a great year.
I might make a YouTube video a bit later in the month with these, but I've been struggling with reflux (GERD is a major symptom of IBS sometimes) and it's been a bit hard to talk. I don't think I'm sick because I feel okay, just a bit tired - but that's normal for me but it's a little uncomfortable. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow so I've got a few things to talk to her about and hopefully, she can help me with that (sorry if this is TMI).
Anyway, if you're interested in checking out my 2024 goals (from last year), here are the posts/vids:

My 2025 Goals
Okie, so now my rant is over, let's get into the goals! I split these into categories last year but I think I might just number these this year and we'll see how many we've got (obviously I don't have to do them in order). I really like making goals for myself every year, it makes me happy and focused.
Read 20-30 books (hopefully I can achieve this now I have a kindle, thanks Lukey!)
Save X amount of money
Pay my 2 x student loan payments (it's annoying how you get so much interest living overseas, can I win the lotto please?)
Make a 2nd blog - something to do with food, I am thinking eats by ash or eats with ash - just need to find a domain, figure out what host I will use and make sure I can find an IG handle for it
Make a free download (like a printable) for this blog - asheycakes
Put more effort into sociology content
Make more aesthetic/cinematic vlogs
Increase my social following (I think this is better than focusing on a number because when I focused on the numbers, it really frustrated me)
Finish my secret project (more to come)
Go live at least once on a social media platform (even if it's Benji's account)
Work on getting sponsorships/brand deals for my content
Increase affiliate sales
Invest in better technology such as lighting (I just got 2 new lights and another tripod so I can probably tick this one off)
Organise my ABN
Make more short-form content
Start writing fiction
Learn to use Procreate/some sort of animation - just downloaded Procreate the other day on my new iPad woo!!
Lose 5-10kg
Eat healthier e.g., focus on more IBS friendly meals and intuitive eating
Do daily mindfulness (so could be meditation, breath work, a walk outside, or affirmations)
Leave the house more
Learn to make bread and pasta (now that we have the pasta attachment for the KitchenAid)
Make sorbet/ice cream
Look after the herb garden - we just planted mint and tomatoes. I'm not sure if we can salvage the tomatoes but hopefully this time the mint goes crazy!
Travel somewhere with Luke and Benji (even if it's just for a weekend)
Get to Level 50 in Pokémon Go (yes this is the same as last year, it takes so looong to get to the next level. I'm still at Level 43)
Go on a ghost tour/ghost hunting - yep, this is also the same as last year, maybe we should get a Rempod and go somewhere random and try.
Play Randonautica at least once (and make a YT video of it). I know it's a bit scary but also wouldn't it just be like playing Pokémon anyway? DW, if I make my intention creepy I will be sure to take Luke with me and tell someone what we're doing. Confirmation bias is a real thing. Also, if you wanna check out my blog post about this app, you can read it "here."
Buy 2-3 nice outfits e.g., could be office wear or something from Myer or David Jones. My wardrobe is looking like I have a lot of sweatpants and hoodies and I'm gonna be 30 this year, heh.
And my bonus goal is to do something adrenalin junkie (and I'm putting this as a bonus goal so my mum doesn't come for me giving me ideas). This could be something like getting another tattoo, a ghost tour, jet boating, or going up a really tall building. But it's my bonus goal so there's not a lot of pressure around it.
So there you have it, my 2025 goals - can't believe it's 2025 already. What goals or new year's resolutions have you made this year? Even if it's something simple as get outside more!
I also want to quickly do a bit of mindfulness and bring back Thankful Thursday where I list what things I'm thankful/grateful for. So today I am thankful for all the new technology I've acquired over the last little bit, that we have a place to live for at least another year, Benji who is currently sleeping at the stairs waiting for Luke to come back up from the garage, my partner Luke, our coffee machine, how delicious Melbourne water is, my 2025 diary, books that I can get lost in, my parents, my herb garden, sunshine, my phone, and our new vacuum cleaner. What things are you thankful for today?
Thanks for reading,
Much love,
Ash xoxo
