Looking back at my 2024 Predictions

My list of 2024 Predictions and whether they came true or not!
Further 5G Integration - I think this one definitely came through, I know a lot of tech companies were pushing for it (especially in Australia). According to "this site", there has been an increase with the global market integration going from $12.09 billion in 2023 to $15.53 billion in 2024.
Remote Work Culture will become the norm - I actually think the opposite, it's only normal for some companies but there's definitely a push to get people back to the office so I think I was wrong with this one. However, there have been more remote jobs made avaliable since Covid-19.
Those weird self-driving cars will get more popular (especially for uber-rides on nights out or trips to and from the airport) - Yes, I see so many IG reels and TikTok videos of these being used so definitely a prediction that came true.
There will be further innovations in food technology such as lab-grown meat that is made more sustainably - I can't find much information on this online - most of the articles date back to April, June so I don't really think there's been much of an update on this one BUT I think people are a bit scared of things like this.
Remote healthcare such as telehealth consultations and video calls will become more popular and widely used - I think this is about 50/50 but I do see a lot of advertising for it around Australia and by gosh, I get a lot of emails from InstantScripts.
The social media app Threads will become really popular and TikTok may reduce in popularity - Well, this is interesting given that Trump wanted to ban TikTok and has now asked to put a pause on it. I think Threads is only popular for certain people but I don't see it surpassing TikTok any time soon.
Renewable energy will soar - we will likely see an increase in both solar and wind power sources (and hopefully less fossil fuels) - According to The World Economic Forum, renewable energy grew about 50% from 2022-2023. However, I don't think we have any 2024 information yet so we may have to come back to this one.
I don't know too much about this specifically but Quantum Computing will take off - I still don't know much about this topic, but "here's" an article that gives you a bit of deep dive of quantum computing in 2024 so I think it's in progress.
AR will make a comeback (augmented reality) - I believe this one has come true, according to "this source" AR is becoming increasingly popular in retail domains. I still play Pokémon Go so I guess that counts right?
Mental Health will start to get de-stigmatised (at least in the West) - from a personal perspective, I would say yes but I think that's because now I see a therapist regular which is a great thing to do just because they offer you amazing perspectives BUT I do think there's a lot of stigmatisation of it still.
Large corporations or TnCs will focus more on cyber-security so we will likely see A LOT more MFA protocols and protection - HAHAHAHA CrowdStrike (I would saying following outages like this, that cyber-security has learned to take on more protocols and protection). I also think some examples in Australia are how ANZ uses that "falcon" technology in their advertising.
AI will get a lot more prominent, we might even see it as a fact-checker in journalism - so it might not be a fact-checker as such but I can definitely see the rise of AI in 2024.
Sustainability will become the new buzzword - so it wasn't quite a specific buzzword, but it sure is mentioned A LOT in "this article". And to be fair, we should be aiming for a more sustainable future.
A scary event will likely happen at a Taylor Swift concert - So it didn't happen but 3 concerts were cancelled in Vienna because of a terrorist threat so I think that kinda counts, right?
eSports will become the most popular thing to stream on YouTube, Discord, and Twitch - this is true for Twitch and Discord, but not on YouTube (kinda checks out IMO).
We will see the rise of new content creators with old ones stepping down - I think this is happening but I don't think I've paid enough attention to it OR maybe my algorithm is just a bit out of whack. I've also seen old content creators make a comeback this year so that's cool!
Tech startups will start offering scholarships / educational programs with better access to everyone - I think there has been a slight increase in this BUT I think there's still a lot of work to do.
We will start seeing more robotics in healthcare and hospitality - Yes, this one with Waldo surgeons for sure!
We will see more of the ocean - with innovations in technology - This one is true! As of June, 2024, there was 26.1% more of the ocean mapped than before.
More mixed-reality theme parks will come to life - I think this one was just "talked about" this year and no progress has been made.
There will be the AI influencer - Yep, example "here".
Some countries will trial universal basic income - No other countries other than the ones that already have this, have trialed UBI in 2024.
Masculinity will be redefined - with more of a focus on men's emotional intelligence and vulnerability - I think this one is a work in progress.
There may be a rise in intentional communities again (history always repeats itself) - Google's AI system seems to think there has been a rise. However, when you look at each intentional community, they were all established a long time ago. So I don't know if there have been any specific ones but it wouldn't surprise me, especially following Trump getting in.
