Hi friends! As I said last week, I was going to continue to write spooky blogs in the lead up to Spooky Season (Halloween) so today's blog is a list of ghost hunting tips. Please enjoy #spookyseason
Ghost Hunting Tips for Spooky Season
As your neighbours' houses turn into spooky wonderlands, it's prime time to dive headfirst into your ghostly escapades! Whether you're a pro at chasing spirits or want to add some pizzazz to your October evenings, here are some hilarious pointers to assist you in reaching out to the afterlife (or at least have a frightfully good time).
Spooky Tip 1: Gear Up!
Make sure that you are ready with the right equipment before you set off on your ghostly hunting adventure. Here is some equipment you might need:
Digital Voice Recorder: Perfect for capturing EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomena). Remember, if you catch your voice saying “I’m scared,” just chalk it up to a shy ghost.
EMF Meter: Essential for detecting electromagnetic fields. Just don’t confuse it with your Wi-Fi router—ghosts may not appreciate your surfing habits (or your browsing history).
Running Shoes: Because if you encounter something truly spooky, you’ll want to make a hasty exit. Ghosts may be slow, but adrenaline does wonders for your speed!
Torch: A must-have for any paranormal investigation. Just make sure it’s not a Halloween prop that turns off when you need it most. Nothing says "I believe in ghosts" like stumbling in the dark!
Rem-Pod: I don't have anything super funny, just that I find these things interesting AF.
Spooky Tip 2: Choose the Right Location (Not Your Friend’s House)
Location, location, location! While your friend's house is definitely haunted by questionable fashion choices, you’ll want to hunt in spots with a bit more history (and you probably don't want to do it in your house either). Here are some suggestions:
Abandoned Places: The perfect blend of charm, creepiness, and the uncanny. If you hear whispers, it’s either the spirits or your friends trying to spook you—either way, be ready to scream (and run)!
Cemeteries/Graveyards: Great for late-night strolls! Just remember, when the spirits rise, it’s best to leave the dance moves at home.
Old/Abandoned Asylums: Nothing says “spooky” quite like exploring a decaying asylum. Just be sure to steer clear of any "Do Not Enter" signs—ghosts aren’t the only thing that can get you in trouble!
Spooky Tip 3: Dress for Success + Survival
What you wear can make a huge difference in your ghost-hunting endeavors. Here are a few tips to keep your look stylish yet spooky:
Costume Props: Wear a witch hat or a cape for extra flair. If you run into a ghost, they’ll be too busy admiring your fashionista style to scare you!
Comfy Clothing: You want to be prepared to run—ghosts may be slow, but so are we when we wear jeans that are two sizes too small.
Layers: (For the Northern Hemisphere, and maybe a cardigan for the Southern Hemisphere). Ghosts are notoriously chilly, and so will you be if you’re not layered up. Just don’t look like you’re ready for a fashion show—ghosts can sense pretentious.
Spooky Tip 4: Know the "Lingo"
Understanding ghost-speak is vital! Here are some phrases you should definitely master the following:
"I come in peace" - This lets the spirits know you’re not there to cause trouble. Unless you trip over a gravestone—then you might want to clarify.
"Who's there?" or "Who goes there?" - A classic and always works—unless it’s just your imagination (or your friend sneezing).
"I really like your wallpaper" - Because ghosts appreciate the compliment. Such a compliment might not save you from being haunted, but at least you will leave them flattered.
Spooky Tip 5: Embrace the Unknown
Sometimes, the best ghost encounters are the ones you didn’t plan for. Here’s how to make the most of it:
Bring snacks: Ghosts love to hang out with people who have treats! If you hear a voice saying “Get out,” it might just be a spirit craving a chip (take some Pringles - my fave Pringles are Sour Cream & Onion).
Keep an Open Mind (and Mouth): If you find yourself in a spooky situation, just laugh it off. Remember, a ghost that can laugh with you is much less likely to haunt your nightmares!!
Practice your scared face: A good ghost story deserves a great reaction. You never know when a sudden appearance might require your Oscar-worthy performance (or maybe just a Logie).
Spooky Tip 6: Document Your Findings
Make sure to document your adventures! Whether you catch an EVP or just a funny photo of your friend screaming, it all counts:
Create a Ghost Journal: Chronicle your findings with dates, times, and locations. If nothing else, it’ll make a great coffee table book titled “Ghosts and Giggles".
Share on Social Media: Tag your ghost hunting adventures with #BooCrew. Bonus points if you can get a ghost to photobomb your selfie!
Spooky Tip 7: Know When to Call It a Night
If things get too spooky, it’s okay to pack it in early. Remember, your safety comes first—after all, ghosts may be dead, but you’re very much alive:
If Your Friends Start Acting Strange: If someone in your group suddenly starts acting possessed, just blame it on the snacks!
When the Lights Flicker: If the lights go out, and you hear a strange noise, it’s best to take that as your cue to leave. Even the bravest ghost hunter knows when to exit stage left!
Alright, buckle up, ghostbusters! Armed with these handy tips, you're all set to dive headfirst into your supernatural safari this eerie season. Whether you stumble upon a ghostly apparition or just a possum with a flair for the dramatic, remember to keep the chuckles coming and enjoy the wild ride. Happy hunting, and may your ghost tales be epic (or at least worth a giggle or two)!
Thank you for reading!
Much love,
Ash xoxo
