Kia Ora friends! Happy Monday! How are ya'll going today? Melbourne weather today has hit 32 degrees and it's stinking hot outside. At least my washing will get dry on the line haha.
Last night Luke and I ended up staying out super late and then it took me forever to get to sleep and I was not feeling well this morning. I planned on getting up early and getting a few things done, but my body was like NOPE. I woke up to go to the bathroom and then just a headache hit, my stomach hurt so much, and I was feeling pretty dizzy, so I just had to go back to sleep. I'm really glad I did because I started to feel a lot better after I had a sleep-in. I'm trying not to judge myself too much for sleeping in when I'm unwell, but I just feel so guilty, especially if I plan on doing errands or whatnot the next day. I always feel guilty if I don't achieve anything in a day - idk if this stems from the western culture of you must work 9-5 or constantly be doing something but rn I'm trying to rest and do my best. Anyway, I got up, had my brekkie and a coffee, and started on the washing I needed to catch up on. After that, my second lens (RF 200 - 800mm) arrived and I was so happy - I can't wait to try it out for wildlife photography heh. Maybe I can do a full rundown of my camera gear in a blog post one day - but not today because I don't feel like taking a photo of each of my lenses right now. Anyway, after that, we had some lunch, and I tried to film a few videos (might have to redo some but we'll see once editing). I think that might be a self-conscious thing so we shall see how we go, made myself some poached eggs for lunch and then went for a walk. It's bloody hot. Now it's about 4pm as I sit down to write today's blog post and I'm just catching up on a few YouTube videos. Tonight, Luke and I are going to make ourselves a roast because we've been craving one for a while and got some kumara (sweet potato) and that's so good to roast. Plus, sweet potato isn't as popular here as it is in NZ. Like in NZ, you can get kumara fries wherever you go but it's not the same here. I guess "sweet potato fries" doesn't have the same ring to it. That reminds me, although I think I've said this in a previous blog before, that it's weird how Pineapple Rings from the fish and chip shops here in Aus are sweet whereas in NZ you get them with a more savoury vibe. So weird. Anyway, we'll probably watch The Bachelors Au again tonight (hehe soz Luke, ily) and then maybe have some ice cream after for dessert. I also had a weird dream this morning about The Wiggles so that was weird.
I realise that was a really long paragraph but I couldn't figure out where to split it - and I can just hear my past marking students' papers self being like "this paragraph is too long, split it up" AHHHHHHHHHH. Anyway, for today's blog, I thought we'd explore some more "Glitch In The Matrix" stories, and this time I'm going straight to the source over Reddit. I've sorted by "Top" and "This Month" so let me know if you've read any more interesting ones too! Also, if you're like what's a Glitch In The Matrix? It's loosely something that cannot be logically explained (yes, based on the movie's premise). Anyway, let's have a read of some today!
From Reddit user @jordantaylor91:
"Once in college, I parked at a McDonald's, went inside, went up to the counter and ordered a "double cheeseburger." The cashier looked at me like I was an idiot and said, "We don't have those here." I continued to stare at her in complete shock because were we in the Twilight Zone? Since when does McDonald's not have cheeseburgers??
I said slowly, "You... don't have those?" "No," she pointed at the menu. I was at Arby's. I was honestly shaken up by this whole experience because I was absolutely positive that I had stopped at a McDonald's - I didn't even like Arby's. There were no McDonald's around, just a single Arby's on a road I didn't normally go on. This was before I had a smartphone too, so it wasn't like I could check a map - I saw a McDonald's, stopped, and it was an Arby's. I don't know if this was my mind glitching or what but it was really bizarre."
So if you're new here, you know I tend to put my thoughts after these things and feel free to post yours in the comments too! But this one kinda feels like a dream, like the user was in a dream while experiencing this or they did that thing where you zone out - like when you drive home but you have no memory of the drive (ahhh what's the psychological theory for that ahhhh I remember sitting in class and now I've forgotten) - and like they'd just forgot where they've walked to. What do you think about this one?
From Reddit user @nightbird333:
"I’m extremely confused and this happened 10 minutes ago so I am writing this before I forget any details, my dad lives in a camper in my yard so I texted him asking if he had an onion because I needed one to make dinner for later. I go to the bathroom, and as I am in the bathroom I hear him come into the house so I walk out and see him standing at the fridge closing the door, I continue walking and all of a sudden he is in the living room. I looked at him and said I thought you were just at the fridge, he replied “I was, but I came to your bedroom door but realized you weren’t in there” (my bedroom door is in the living room). There is no way he wouldn’t have seen me on his way to my bedroom door in the living room, and no way I wouldn’t have seen him walk into the living room from the fridge. What the hell just happened? I didn’t bother explaining further to him because he is a skeptical person and doesn’t talk about stuff like that or have any interest in things that don’t have a “logical” explanation."
This one kinda freaks me out. It's like they walked past each other but were invisible or somehow just teleported? OR, more logically, one of them had a brain glitch or a split second of losing consciousness. I think either could be true. What do you think?
From Reddit user @tworoads427:
"My family just experienced a glitch all together at dinner this evening. We were eating salmon, potatoes and a bunch of other veggies. Rule is, finish what is on your plate before you ask for more. Dad reminded the youngest who was asking for more salmon. She still has yellow zucchini and potatoes left.
Youngest child has been resisting veggies lately. She didn’t want the yellow zucchini, so I traded her for some broccolini. She was happy and ate it all. Then proceeded to finish her potatoes. I saw very clearly that her plate was empty, so I gave her more salmon, took the initial bones out and Dad checked the rest for any other bones.
All of a sudden, I see more potatoes and yellow zuch on her plate. I thought maybe Dad put some on, strange because I knew she was getting full already and thought the salmon would be her last serving. Well I was wrong and she asked again for more salmon after finishing that 2nd serving. Dad told her again she needs to finish what is on her plate. I suggested since that was her 2nd serving of potatoes and zuch so she did not need to finish that, especially because she did not serve it to herself. Dad then said that was the original potatoes and zuch from first serving. He recalled that when I gave the second salmon, those were still on her plate. We had a whole discussion about it and agreed we must have been in different dimensions. Youngest doesn’t recall how those got on her plate but she does know she cleared her plate the first time. Oldest recalled seeing the plate empty too, then said it must have been one of her new ghost friends who gives people things they don’t want or need.
I don’t know how to explain what happened, but I do know it gets annoying because we can’t agree and get frustrated since we are seeing things differently. We have been seeing an increase in glitches lately."
This one baffles me! Is everyone just having a false memory at the same time or is someone messing with the youngest child? Also, some of the comments on this post freak me out because they dive deeper into the whole simulation theory (again, like The Matrix movie) and honestly it's funny but I hope not. If we're all just a computer simulation, then why do we get sick? Or is whoever running it, just super sadistic? Idk, I don't like that theory but the glitches in the matrix phenomena is really interesting and I like seeing videos and things about that. I also really like it when someone randomly comes and explains it or debunks it so to speak.
Anyway, I think that's enough of those for today and I'm quite tired so don't wanna read too many things when my head hurts a little. So for today's question, I want to know your thoughts. Pineapple on Pizza, yes or no? And why? Let me know in the comments below. For me, I don't mind it, especially because it's usually associated as a type of pizza you get in summer - one with pineapples on it. But it has to have the right toppings on it. If the toppings aren't right, then it's not right if you get what I mean.
Okie, that's all for today! Ka kite, Much love, Ash
As much as I'm a traditionalist when it comes to pizza and Italian food in general, I still have to say yes to Pineapple on pizza
