Hello everybody! HAPPY FRIDAY! Are ya'll excited for the weekend AND the fact that it's DECEMBER which means it's SUMMER in the Southern Hemisphere AND the festive season has officially BEGUN! Although it doesn't really feel like summer - it's another rainy day in Melbourne. I feel like the really hot days don't tend to happen too much here until late December/early January.
I thought I'd get in an early blog post today because even though I woke up super late (like 8:30am so not that late) I've been quite productive today. I've managed to get 95% of the cleaning and chores done (e.g., catch up on washing), and I've posted on my socials (and omg can't believe some of my silly videos are getting so many views). I guess I'm kinda experimenting with new ideas and whatnot. I'm seeing what does well and what doesn't do well and I think I talked about this yesterday a little bit - what does well on Instagram might not do well on TikTok and what does well on TikTok might not do well on Instagram, it's kinda weird. But I'm trying to be way more active on social media than I have in the past and I'm really enjoying this new creative side of me and I WISH I had the GUTS to bring her out earlier in life. But alas, we didn't always have the most supportive people around and I just follow my gut at the time the feeling comes. I've always kinda done that. Anyway! Today, my newest YouTube Video is out and it's me reacting to scary TikToks. I think it's kinda funny and I tried not to spend too much time editing it because well I don't want to stare at my face too long, especially when I'm screwing it up so much from being uncomfortable. But I think this is the start of me really finding myself. Like, that's not to say I'm not unapologetically myself because I always have been for most of my life. This is me. But experimenting and growing and evolving is also part of life. Anyway, you can check out the video below! Hope ya'll like it.
I also mentioned the other day that I made a vision board on Canva for my 2024 goals and visions (and more general goals) and now that it's December, I thought I'd share these goals with you all. I don't know whether I'll get to all of them but I thought seeing as I pretty much achieved most of my goals this year (bar like 2 or 3 that I've rolled over to next year now), why not keep myself accountable my sharing with the blog? AND I keep seeing all these inspiring social media posts about "why not get started on your 2024 goals now?" and even though they seem like an advertisement trying to see you something they kinda resonated with me and made me want to start on these goals now. A lot of them are going to be quite similar to one of my earlier blog posts "30 things I want to do before I'm 30" and well that's me realising I'm f*cking CLOSE AF to 30. Turned 28 this year and next year I'll be 29 and so on, so I'm getting old. You definitely know you're getting old when you stop getting checked for ID when buying alcohol LOL. So here's my vision board below and I'll go over my goals underneath.
Isn't it cute? I thought it was cute AF! Hehe. So you can probably figure out a few things on there and it depends where we end up next year but here goes nothing!
My 2024 Goals!
Personal Goals
Find a new place to live (because we think our lease is going to end in March which is said bc we really like it here) OR if that fails, start travelling full-time as a backup plan
Get a doggo (if we have a backyard and place that allows it)
Cook and bake more often
Write a daily gratitude list (e.g., a list every morning of what I'm grateful for)
Meditate for at least 10 minutes a day
Improve my health situation
Be able to do a hike AGAIN
Go ghost hunting
Grow my own herbs e.g., mint because we never use all of it when we get it from the shops and it's annoying me because I MUST boil potatoes in mint
Upgrade my wadrobe + find my style (atm it's probably Grandma style + comfort)
Read at least 20 - 30 books (I've done about 12 this year and usually make it only 10 and some years I've struggled but I think reading is so important and I want to get back into doing more of it, even if they're small books)
Social Media Goals
Gain 1500 TikTok Followers
Gain 10,000 Instagram Followers (we're stagnant around 3700 atm and I wanted 2023 to get to 5000 so let's challenge myself and make it higher!)
Gain 1000 YouTube Followers (to be eligible to monetize it)
Find my YouTube niche
Make regular vlogs/videos
Monetize my blog or something creative (e.g., could be selling my photos more). If you want to buy a digital print of mine for a desktop wallpaper, you can check out the "shop" section of my blog) OR get a brand deal/sponsorship
Get to Level 50 in Pokemon Go (I know it's not really a social media thing but I thought that this was the category that it most related to)
Photography Goals
Get a photo "featured" somewhere
Keep doing astro photography
Learn more about videography
Improve my wildlife photography
Spend more time on long exposure shots
Travel Goals
Take Luke to NZ for at least a month (get to NZ to help mum when we find out about her surgery) + do a roadie with Luke of NZ
Travel around more of Victoria and Australia in general
Do something adrenaline junkie (I wanted to do this this year and had the opportunities to either go bungy jumping or climb the Adelaide Oval but my health got in the way and I'm a scaredy-cat sometimes)
Financial Goals
Pay off Credit Card before the interest free period ends
Pay off student loan repayments ( x 2, April + September) - this is the most awful thing about living overseas
Save $10,000 (this has been my usual goal each year and I'm glad I'm sticking to it, obviously like to save more but idk where my health or career is going next)
Update my CV and find my career trajectory/purpose in life (although it's really about the journey and not the destination - do we really know what our purpose is in life?)
So there you have it! I might add more as I go but some of these depend on where we end up, but I think it's a pretty solid list of goals. I've always been someone who's been kinda goal oriented but that's not too say I'm also not journey-oriented because the journey is JUST as important, especially when you're on a journey of self-development and finding yourself sorta thing.
For today's question, I want to know, what's one of your 2024 goals OR New Year's Resolutions? Let me know in the comments below. That's all from me today, I'ma go eat my lunch now! See ya'll tomorrow! Much love, Ash xx
