Good afternoon/evening! Happy Thursday and a thankful one that it is today - hehe see what I did there? I've been doing so many other bits and pieces today that my blog post nearly got away from me. Ah, such is life sometimes. But, I'm here, back for YET another daily blog post. Melbourne weather feels so much warmer than it is today, I think it's about 25 degrees but when you walk outside it feels super humid so that's nice. I woke up once at 2:30am and then again at 6am so dunno why my insomnia has suddenly come back. But hey, if we gotta nap during the day, we gotta nap during the day. I lay in bed until Luke woke up and then we went for an early morning walk and had brekkie. The rest of the day has kinda been a blur - maybe I've been dissociating the whole day - who knows!
Anyway, last night we put up all our Christmas decorations, so we've got one big tree downstairs and one little tree in my office space. I think they look really good. I also managed to vlog my whole day in a life with IBS yesterday so I'm a bit scared to upload that on to the YT but maybe we'll get there soon. I'm really a perfectionist but I hear that consistency is key. Here's some pics from last night's shenanigans!
I think they look super cute! And it's so special having Christmas decorations up in our house. I haven't had any up for a very long time so yay! Although we did get some really nice baubles from Myer but it turns out you had to put the string on them yourself so that was really bloody annoying but we got a few up. It took us much longer than we expected haha.
And today, what have I done? As I think I said before, working on my vlog and my guided meditation and I decided to take a few random surveys as well. Oh and I managed to get out for a second walk just before lunch (so I nearly made it to 40 minutes of walking today, yay). Luke's currently in a last minute of the day meeting and then has cricket tonight so I plan on just chilling but because today is Thanksgiving in America land (not that us kiwis and Aussies celebrate it) I thought I'd do another post about what I'm thankful for! I already did a small one on my Instagram post but here's a list of the things I am thankful for today!
Things I am Thankful For Today!
Putting up the Christmas decorations with pretty lights
A roof over my head
Clean drinking water
My mental health being relatively good atm
Nature and Wildlife
My partner Luke for always being supportive, even when I'm grumpy at him
Meditation
A mental well-being health mini-break that's allowing me to explore the creative side of me
My premium canva version
Social Media (LOL)
My friends and family
All the random drinks people left in our fridge on my birthday
Ice Cream
Cheese
The random wombat reindeer decoration in our neighbourhood
Seeing lots of doggos when I'm out for a walk
My self-care journals
So there's a list of things I'm thankful for today! What things are you thankful for? Let me know in the comments below!
I also just wanted to say that last year (2022) I really struggled to get through a lot of my goals and most moved over into this year and that's okay sometimes because we can't always do everything in one year, but this year has been awesome for me and I've got like 2 goals left (out of I think 20?) which I think is pre cool! I'm proud of myself for that AND I've even done things outside of my comfort zone like start a YT channel, stand up for my health, and learned new skills like Canva Design (and videography like that's new).
Also, tomorrow is Fairy Bread Day so we've got to remember to make Fairy Bread even though it's the absolute worst thing for you, it's definitely part of kiwi and Aussie culture - if you grew up in one of these countries, then you surely have had fairy bread.
Ah one more thing, the house next to us is the same street number except it has an "A" after the number (it's so stupid), and if I order something online, I say our house is the one RIGHT behind the bus stop and that Luke can see you from the window while working BUT today, I got a notification that a package had been delivered and a photo of what I thought was the front of my house. BUT NOOOO, the postie had delivered in nextdoor and they happen to have the exact same welcome mat and colour of the brick of their house. I get that delivery drivers don't have much time but if it's not the one behind the bus stop, wouldn't you double check? So anyway, Luke went to get it from next door and tried to ring their doorbell to let them know but nothing so hopefully it doesn't look dodgy us going to retrieve a package with my name on it. I'm sure when they came home they would have given it to us (I hope, I've never seen them) but grr it just really grinds my gears.
I know I've already asked a question today but I've been rambling a bit more after, so for today's proper proper question, I want to know, what is something new that you've learned in the past week? Let me know in the comments below. For me, I'm learning video editing and in no way am I a pro, but it's a cool new skill and I'm excited to see where it goes!
Okie that's it for today! I'll be back for another daily blog post tomorrow and hopefully, the fairy bread is just as magical as it was when I was a kid, hehe!
Ka kite,
Much love,
Ash xoxo
PS we also had dumplings from a store down the road last night and we got deep friend wontons and honestly, they tasted really healthy but so good and I'll definitely be ordering those again for sure!
I'm thankful for my family, partner, friends, having a roof over my head, the suburb I live in, having a job, playing cricket, having so many different interests, being able to go outside, birds and wildlife, being in nature, being around water, being able to explore, yummy food and a lot of other things!
