Good evening friends and fam! Happy Tuesday. How's your week going so far? Other than my health issues right now, my week is going pretty good. I've survived the past few days of work and only have 4 more shifts left + a day to drop off my equipment. It was announced to the team today that I'd be leaving a bit earlier than planned so that I could focus on my health as a priority. Tbh I feel like if I didn't leave now, I was going to get asked to leave anyway, so at least this way I still have agency and hope like heck some new avenues open up for me once I'm better. Speaking of being iron deficient, I'm not such a fan of red meat like I've said before but Luke cooked a steak for me last night that was REALLY good. I can't always get through a full steak because it upsets my stomach but I did a lot of it and was super impressed so thanks Luke - you're in charge of streak cooking from now on. Heheh.
Sunshine!
Today was a WFH day and I woke up pretty dizzy so I didn't get out of bed as early as I'd liked. I just wish I had the energy in the morning and didn't feel like I was going to faint every time I pass out. But hey, we're surviving and that's all I can do right now. It wasn't super busy so we had time to catch up on lots of enrolment admin which was good. I managed to get out for a walk after work too, not a very long one, but it was good to get outside and hopefully I can work my way back up to what I used to be able to do and finally say "I feel better" - "I have energy". I'm looking forward to that day! A magpie did whistle at me (I think I got in her way) on my walk so I felt a bit like I'd been cat called by a bird but I think it was because there was either a mate or nest near by. But she let me pass without coming at me, thankfully! I also saw my husky friend but he didn't want to come say hi today. Just wanted to chill out in the sun. I also didn't see any other doggos. Tonight Luke has cricket training and I was feeling pretty wrecked after work so didn't want to cook so we're going to get Pizza from our local Pizza shop and then watch some TV. I'm really enjoying The Masked Singer more than I expected. It's just such a silly show. And then Cheap Seats is after so that's always a good laugh! I'm just eating some salt and vinegar chips and dip as a snack now! I have a tiny cut in one of my fingers so that's not the brightest idea for me but I just wanted the chippies. I'm also watching The Project at the moment too (I have not been watching much news lately) and just heard about a man who pretended to be a mannequin which I think is so funny.
Tomorrow is an office day (my final ever office day) so I think they're going to do a morning tea or something to celebrate my time at the company, which is nice! I'm glad that my team is super understanding about everything. And then Luke's booked us a date night dinner in the city for World Pasta Day with a set menu so tomorrow's post will likely be quite late but that's okay because pasta. Who doesn't love pasta?
I don't have much else to report today! I bet I will over the next few weeks as a few things are happening but hope you're still enjoying my daily blogs and stream of consciousness. Hopefully today's post isn't too boring!
I really wanted to ask a pasta related question today but I think that's better suited to tomorrow. For today's question, I want to know, what are your pantry staples that you always have in your house? Let me know in the comments below. For me, it's herbs/spices, garlic, onion, eggs, flour, sugar, baking powder, brown sugar, butter, salt, and rice/pasta. We also always seem to have pickles and jalapenos.
That's all! Ka kite,
Much love,
Ash
Passata bottles, tins of beans and tomatoes, a gazillion spices, few other odds and ends
I always gave Bbq shapes in my pantry. I also like salt and vinegar chippies but they never last more than a week in the pantry. No dip for me, my whole family are not dip people. Rodz
