Kia Ora Fam! It's Sunday and I titled this post Sunday Scaries even though I am working this weekend hahaha I just wanna go outside in the sunshine. I am CRAVING eating fish and chips on the beach and watching the sunset. Then finishing off with a yummy ice block or ice cream (or as Aussies say icy pole/pop). Boy, am I looking forward to daylight savings. Only two more weeks - yippeee! I defo want to go out and do more long exposure photography and more sunset photography as many of my Instagram followers have been asking for.
How are you going today? I hope you are having a wonderful weekend and the Sunday Scaries aren't too spooky today. Let's manifest a wonderful week ahead with lots of spring vibes and cute doggos and cattos.
Today, Luke and I are having his parents over for dinner after work and this morning my paint things came. I am excited to give them a go! I haven't been doing that well with my health lately, both physically and mentally, so I definitely want to use my free time to explore more creative outlets - whether or not it goes anywhere, we'll see! I sure am hoping so!
Something I've also been thinking about doing is trying ALL (or just the popular ones) the ice cream spots around Melbourne over summer and then creating reviews of each places with photos/videos of course. This would be something that Luke and I would do together as the internet seems to like when we make silly videos together online, so I think this would be interesting and it's kinda like research ya know? Can make super nerdy spreadsheets and rate the ice cream places and flavours as we go along and even write something academic along the way as that's something I haven't done in awhile. I think it would be interesting to do. Although, the inspiration for this is kinda embarrassing to admit but I was walking to work on an office day and overheard (shut up Ash, we all know you were eavesdropping) someone discussing that they lived in Footscray and another person saying that's the suburb with the good ice cream place - Ca-Rem Gelato. Then when I was in the car with Luke, I told him about this and it said it would be kinda interesting to test - so Luke, you ready for a summer of ice cream, gelato, and sorbet??? Now I want ice cream, dang.
Something else that I also really enjoy is baking and I remember back in 2014, I didn't get into University straight away (now I have a Masters degree - suck on that everyone who told me I couldn't do it) so I had a 6 month mini break between high school and starting university. During this time, I spent A LOT of time baking and I taught myself buttercream icing skills and since living in a lavish rental with Luke, baking is something I've gotten back into but there's not always a lot of time due to shift work and other errands, so the main thing I've been baking has been chocolate chip cookies (which are amazing and I make THE BEST cookies). Okie, enough of me being conceited. But the point is, that I want to try and get back into the fancy icing skills, maybe try out some fondant work, learn new recipes, make videos of me learning (I'm AWKWARD AF on camera but Luke finds me funny and endearing so maybe the rest of you will - the internet hate and criticism is just something that I find super scary but I think I've gotta try otherwise I'll never know what I'm capable of). I hope this makes sense, I kinda feel like I'm blabbering now. Let's move onto another topic.
While it's quiet at work today, I've been watch a YouTube Podcast in the background "Sam & Colby - You've Got Company w/ Kris Collins" which is run by the famous Content Creator KallMeKris. I'm a fan of her TikTok content so I'm looking forward to more longer form content. For today's question, I want to know: what is your favourite ice cream flavour? Let me know in the comments below (dw, you can have more than one). My favourite ice cream flavours are cookies and cream and chocolate (but it has to be Movenpick Swiss Chocolate - that is amazing and yes, you can get it from Woolies). Also, I have to give a shout out to Tip Top's Rocky Road only found in NZ (both the 'tub version' and 'ice cream block version' - they are fantastic. Rocky Road is also something I love to bake so maybe watch this space for some Rocky Road ASMR.
That's all for today! Maybe see you tomorrow :) Ka kite, see you later alligator
Much love,
Ash xx
