What do you give a sick penguin?
A. A tweetment.
Kia Ora friends, did you like the funny joke I found online I posted above? I thought it was funny and let me tell you, today I am very very sick. I don't know if it's more IBS issues, gastro, or how the iron supplements are affecting me. But it's bloody horrible. I'm bedridden today and I just want to go outside for a walk or be able to work today (but alas, I cannot do either). I could barely stand up this morning and my tummy is feeling so sore. There are a lot more symptoms but I don't wanna get into them too much but it just feels like how you feel when you have gastro. I hate it and it's no fun. All I want is to be happy and healthy.
So today I've been resting in bed, managed to get a bit of sleep in, eat a few things (very grateful I have a little bit of an appetite), and have just been watching some YouTube and scrolling social media. My brain needs a distraction while I am unwell. Right now I'm watching "YouTuber Kenny Veach Disappears in Desert Near Area 51 While Searching For Mysterious M Cave" on "Miler Higher". I've only just started watching the episode but a quick Google search shows that it's a cave shaped like an M and in a very dangerous area/up super high. Like I have no idea if even mountain goats would be up there. Furthermore, other information on Reddit suggests that the person who went missing, Kenny, was a compulsive liar and that the M cave doesn't even exist. Feel free to have a read of "this" Reddit thread for some people's perspectives. Some other perspectives are a bit more positive such as his inventions on his YouTube Channel - you can read more "here." From my perspective, the way that Kenny took on hiking trips or caving was absolutely dangerous. I have a big fair of caves - once mum went caving and came back with an awful virus (I was lucky not to get sick then BUT I guess my health is making up for it now lol) and James Cameron's movie "Sanctum" was enough for me to go NOPE NOPE NOPE, no caves for me. But hiking alone is something I would never do, always hike with someone else, or in a group and make sure you never go off on your own, stick to the tracks, make sure you have enough food and water, and follow your gut, etc.., - basic hiking rules. There are a few theories as to what happened to Kenny, he disappeared in 2014, some suggest he may have been bitten by a snake and passed away that way, and some people suggest he found a government device in the cave that caused his whole body to vibrate (an alleged device to scare people away from the cave), some people believe he may have gotten lost and died in an accident or faked his own death, and one last theory is that he was a victim of foul play e.g., witnessed a crime and those perpetrators needed to be silenced. What do you think happened to Kenny? His body still has not been found (it's now 2023 if you were wondering - but time's just a social construct isn't it).
I don't really know what I think - my perspective might change after I've watched this whole YT episode but there are a lot of missing persons cases where someone goes hiking alone that are never found again, or there's that thing where they go insane and end up taking their clothes off and are found naked. Like the Dyatlov Pass Incident - something that has apparently been solved where two scientists believed that this occurred due to a slab avalanche - a deadly snowslide that strikes on low-angled slopes. I just read that in this article - https://www.vice.com/en/article/m7vwg8/the-dyatlov-pass-mystery-may-have-just-been-solved-by-new-video-evidence
Basically some weird sh*t happens in this world - don't you think? And now I can feel myself getting into a weird internet rabbit hole. If you're interested in more creepy tragedies, feel free to give "this" article a read too.
I absolutely love researching and learning about the world, especially all the creepy things but I cannot pinpoint why. Is there a reason why we like to feel scared? Is there a reason why we like to feel uncomfortable? I have no idea, but it's definitely distracting. It's something I'm going to put on a list to come back to and research when I'm feeling a bit better. And I absolutely want to keep writing and get better at that too!
For now, as I really need to get back to resting, I will end the blog there. Thank you for reading!
For today's question, I want to know what would your perfect day look like? Let me know in the comments below. For me, it would be spent feeling well, having a lovely brunch, and then going to see wildlife and taking photos, then watching the sunset.
Perfect day: a nice brekkie with a good coffee, a nice drive and a hike out in the bush - hopefully with lots of birds and animals, a nice lunch, more exploring in the afternoon, then a nice dinner (with a glass of wine or two!) and seeing some possums in the park 😊
