Good afternoon friends and Whānau! Happy Thursday. How are ya'll going today? For October in Melbourne, it's pretty cold today! The sun came out for a little but this morning but working in my office this afternoon (and with my wheat bag and a hoody on) I am pretty chilly. I am hoping it warms up over the next few weeks for summer! Although the rain is good to help get rid of the awful bushfires going on, I am cold.
Last night after work, Luke and I watched the final episode of "Ahsoka" and boy, were we disappointed. I won't go into too much detail bc spoilers but what the f*ck Dave? All I can say is there bloody better be a season 2. Or else. Have you watched Ahsoka yet? Are you a big Star Wars fan like myself? Let me know, post a comment below or send me a DM on my socials! And if you're all up to date on Ahsoka, let me know what you thought of that finale!
But today, with working the 1-9 shift, I again slept in. My body is just so exhausted all the time. I just want to get better. But my health is declining right now and it's really p*ssing me off because I want to do a workout and go on a hike and not feel so awful throughout the day. I also managed to do a bit of a longer walk this morning as well but had to come back because my tummy was not good. Hopefully over the next few days, my walking distance increases because I know that will make me feel a tad happier. Luke's also said that I'm started to seem to be doing a bit better mentally and am more relaxed in general. I think the iron deficiency and stress from work was making me quite irritable and anxious. It could also be the fact that I've started this blog - kinda as an outlet but I'd love to be able to do more creative works such as make more videos, make more designs etc.
After my walk this morning, I watched some YouTube (hahah typical, but it's such a good platform) and I love learning about new things and watching spooky vids on there. I don't know why I like that uncomfortable feeling of being scared - kinda like when you watch a Black Mirror episode and it gives you a weird af vibe. Or just watching creepy things. I just like it. Sometimes I've even fallen asleep while watching creepy videos (tbh though, in hindsight that might be due to my health and not the videos putting me to sleep). But this morning I watched one of "Loey Lane's" newer YouTube videos (she's a horror-based YouTuber) which was "Down the Life of Luxury Rabbit Hole: YouTube's Strangest Ghost Hunting Channel" where she streamed some of their spooky content. It's all obviously fake and for entertainment, but their horror genre is really good. I remember they did a video awhile back on some other socials (maybe Tik Tok) where they bought a fake girlfriend on the dark web and that was a pretty scary video too. If you're a horror fan, you definitely should check them out. Unfortunately, these guys had some issues with accessing their channels revenue with a partnering company and have said they'd give more updates in the future. More about that can be seen "here".
Today I also want to explore 3 of the World's Biggest Unsolved Mysteries (I've explored some of NZ and Australia's so why not go even bigger and check out some more common-knowledge ones). I'm starting to feel a migraine come on so ima just keep these short and sweet and maybe come back to more later on (wish me luck for the rest of my work shift). I'm going to cover Area 51, The Bermuda Triangle, and Jack the Ripper.
1. Area 51 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Area_51
I would say that Area 51 isn't that mysterious to the public because we know that it's a classified area for the US Military in Nevada. But, it has gained some media attention due to UFO and other conspiracy theories (especially because we don't really know what goes on there and people love a good conspiracy theory and maybe a bit of confirmation bias. So let's explore some of these shall we:
One really common conspiracy was the Roswell incident. This occurred in July 1947 and rubber and metallic debris from a military balloon was recovered with a "flying disc" inside. This sparked major controversy decades later where a conspiracy theory was released that they were covering up an alien spaceship. In 1994, it was then announced that this was a top secret surveillance balloon from Project Mogul - always find this stuff interesting because I think surveillance capitalism is now at its peak - Big Brother is definitely watching. Side note, that reminds me of a really good TV show I watched called "Person of Interest".
There is a conspiracy theory that this is where the government/military meet with aliens/extraterrestrials (tbh why would aliens go there if they were real?)
The belief in weather control development and also exotic energy weapons (I mean if we could control the weather, I think we'd be far more advanced as a society)
Theories that the development of time travel is going on here (lol)
2. Bermuda Triangle - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bermuda_Triangle
The Bermuda Triangle is an urban legend focused on an area of the North Atlantic Ocean where a number of disappearances have occurred (the likes of planes and ships) under very strange circumstances i.e., we have no idea what happened to them. If you're interested, a list of all the disappearances/incidents can be found "here." There has been a lot of criticism of this concept but some potential explanations are as follows: paranormal explanations such as a parallel universe (shudder), natural explanations such as human error, people getting lost in the Gulf Stream, and violent weather. What do you think? Let me know in the comments below.
3. Jack the Ripper - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_the_Ripper
Ahh, a serial killer one. For those of you unaware, Jack the Ripper was an unidentified serial killer that caused havoc in Whitechapel, London, England around 1888. Jack the Ripper's victims were often prostitutes. The victims cuts were often cut and some of their body parts ripped out and mutilated (so awful) leading authorities to believe Jack the Ripper was someone with some sort of surgical/medical knowledge. He allegedly had 5 victims (although I suspect there were more). Recent evidence suggests that Aaron Kosminski was Jack the Ripper. However, there is still not enough evidence to close the case. More about this can be found "here."
When I'm feeling a bit less under the weather, I'll come back to these and do more of a deep dive. But requested by Luke, today's question is "what is your favourite social media trend ever?" Let me know in the comments below.
TBH, I don't even know what mine is. I am a big fan of memes though. They definitely make me happy.
Anyway, as I'm feeling quite light headed, I'm gonna end it there! Hope you enjoyed my daily rambles this lovely Thursday and see you tomorrow!
Much love,
Ash xx
I enjoyed the 10 year challenge probably best, a little strange some people may say to that. Seeing the change most people made and for the better made me smile. Don't think I did it but I have no pics of myself. Rodz
