Hi friends! I thought we'd do something different today and give a post that's a bit more "fun" than the last few creepier heavy topics. Please enjoy a 25-question Q & A lifestyle type of blog post.
I hope you're enjoying getting to know me!
If you could live in any fictional world, which one would you choose? Hmmm maybe Star Wars but I'd also want to be in a fictional world where I wasn't in any danger so maybe something like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (probably something sci-fi --- oooh Red Dwarf would be fun too).
What’s a book or movie that significantly influenced your life? I don't think influence is the right word but the movie Bicentennial Man really messed me up and so did Bridge to Terabitha.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and how would you use it? I would absolutely love to be able to read minds - I don't know why but I just want to confirm whether what I think that person thinks about me is correct or if I'm way off. I feel like you could use this super-power to your advantage if you were a detective or something.
What’s the most unusual food you’ve ever tried, and did you like it? I think someone gave me snails out of a can once, and no I don't think so.
If you could instantly learn any skill or talent, what would it be? Speaking multiple languages or some sort of science.
What’s a goal or dream you’re currently working towards? Working on making blogging a full-time career, gaining more subscribers on my YouTube channel, and doing more content creation in general. I also want to write a book - I'm thinking to do a book of slam poetry just to get my name out there but we'll see how we go.
If you could master any language, which one would you choose and why? I really wish I learned more Maori back in NZ (and it annoys me there's no macrons on my blogging site) but I'd also like to learn French or Latin just because I think the languages are very pretty.
If you could have any job for a day, what would it be? Zookeeper!
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? Less wars and political tensions (idk if that counts as two).
What’s your favourite story to tell from your life? I love storytelling! But my favourite would be about the time I went to a cult.
If you could meet any living person for coffee, who would it be and why? Probably Sir David Attenborough because I want to know what his favourite animal is and I think he'd be interesting to talk to about his life.
What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? Once I got a set of fancy spices so I'ma go with that but I can't remember much else (I'm one of those annoying people who buy herself the things she needs so that it's harder to buy presents). OH, and once someone got me a Spiderman comic from the UK which was pretty cool.
What’s your favourite way to spend a weekend? Getting brunch, taking Benji to the doggo park, hanging with Luke, and eating lots of yummy food. Sometimes I like taking photos and checking out local wildlife.
What’s the most interesting documentary or book you’ve encountered recently? Luke and I recently watched Wild Lapland on Disney+ that was pretty cool.
What’s an achievement you’re really proud of? My masters degree (also bonus ones of climbing a mountain in 2011 and doing a really scary/hard two day hike in 2019).
What’s your favourite way to express creativity? Taking photos and writing.
What’s a memory that always makes you smile? My first date with Luke where we saw a possum friend!
What’s the most thought-provoking question you’ve ever been asked? Question 19.
What do you believe is the purpose of life? Uhh probably to be happy or find our own happiness and to live as much as we can.
How do you define true happiness, and do you think it’s achievable for everyone? I think happiness is definitely achievable for everyone, but having the basics helps like clean drinking water and a roof would help people feel happy. I hope that one day there is less poverty and more happiness for everyone.
What is a belief you hold that most people disagree with? I don't think this is a specific belief (bc I would say it's a fact) but sex and gender are different and are both socially constructed. And, if someone has a specific pronoun, use it. It's okay to make mistakes, but rectify it when someone lets you know. Also, if someone wants to be called by a specific name, call them that.
If you knew you had one year left to live, how would you spend it? Travelling as much as I could and spending as much time with Benji and Luke.
Do you believe in fate or free will, and why? I think people can choose how they want to live their lives but I also think there's some synchronicities in the world. I don't know if that answers the question.
What’s a common misconception people have about you? Some people have told me I'm b*tchy which I don't think I am and some people think I'm shy, not as intelligent, or that I'm not determined. Other people have also thought I'm not as strong as I am (both mentally and physically) but I would like to think I am strong, in both those senses.
What did you want to be when you were little? Hahha a few different things - an SFX makeup artist, a detective, a forensic scientist, a model, and a psychologist. I don't know if I could ever do any of those now, maybe one day.
Ahh that's it for today's blog!
See you, Ash
PS: Here's a new YouTube vlog!
